Beka Valentine had her own ship. Her own crew. Her own life. The captain of a salvage vessel called the Eureka Maru, she did things her way. Never mind living from job to job, the jerks she had to work for, the debts, or the string of criminal charges she and her crew left behind. It was a good life. That's what she'd tell you.

That all changed when she took a job to salvage the Andromeda Ascendant, a 300-year-old High Guard starship caught in the event horizon of a black hole. The Andromeda was going to make the crew of the Maru.

She didn't plan on its captain still being alive. Or on him talking her crew into joining his crusade to restore a government that's been dead for 300 years.

One of these days, he might get her killed. But until then, one thing's for sure: it's a hell of a ride.

Beka Valentine is the acting First Officer of the Andromeda Ascendant. 5' 8" tall and (usually) blonde, she's got a taste for torn shirts and leather and a hell of an anti-authoritarian attitude. She's also probably the best pilot you've ever seen. And not even the Andromeda's captain gets to tell her what to do.
